Trinity Episcopal Church in
Danville, KY was founded in 1829. The
current church building was erected in 1830 and consecrated in 1831. Its first pipe organ was installed in
1838. Since that time Trinity has never
been without a pipe organ. The third of
the Trinity pipe organs was built by the Moeller Organ Company and installed in
1966. By summer 2011 the Moeller had
fallen into a state of disrepair that compelled the church to begin looking at
alternatives. They were looking to
broaden the flexibility of the instrument and maximize their investment. It came to their attention that a Kney pipe
organ was for sale in Flint, MI. The
organ was 17 stops and electric slider.
After a trip to investigate its condition and scaling the church made
the purchase of the pipe organ. The pipe
organ was not used exactly as is.
Many of the stops were rescaled, some were replaced. The console for the new organ is a repurposed
Holtkamp stop table console. The
casework was designed to be compatible with the original church architecture.
